Using ‘The Tree’ Feature on FamilySearch.org
Dana Ann Palmer’s remarkable book, the Ultimate guide to Mastering FamilySearch, is so chockful of essential information and pointers, we could spend hours describing them. “Chapter Six: The Tree” covers a fundamental aspect of FamilySearch. According to Dana, “FamilySearch’s FAMILY TREE (https://www.familysearch.org/en/family-tree/) can be a powerful tool if used properly. You will need to create a free account on FamilySearch to use this feature. FAMILYTREE is a shared tree among all those logged in. The information attached to each person in the tree is not uniquely yours unless you have marked the person as LIVING. Anyone can make changes or add content to deceased people in the tree, which helps with collaborating efforts.”
Following are pages 152-153 and 157-158 from Chapter Six which describe the different “views” of THE TREE and how to find people connected to it.
