Subscription FAQ

For the life of this country, books have been the preferred way to capture its history. Unlike a database, a book takes on the character and personality of the author and the people memorialized in its pages. Our experts give you advice based on their experiences, not on algorithms. With our subscription, we have joined our books with the tools to give you the most value from their content.

Yes, the great advantage of the new site is the ability to do global searches. You will see the titles that contain the search terms along with the number of hits. When you highlight a title, you will see the hits along with a few words to add context.

You can do a general name search:

Or, a Boolean search for an exact match only: Boolean Searching

Clicking on your chosen result will take you right to the page:

Of course, you can do those things. To respect our authors, we have placed limits on how much of any book you can print before asking us for permission.

Yes, and it is easy. The site will guide you along the way:

Highlight and Notes

Your notes and bookmarks remain in your account. Anytime you return to your books – either in the subscription or one that you rent or buy – your notes and bookmarks will still be there.

Yes. You can find citations in more than one place. Perhaps the easiest way to add the citation is when you have the book open and click on More book options. Here is an example:

The best way to find out which books are in the Subscription is by using the link to all of our eBooks. That link is at the top of this and every page.

*Tip: You can use all of the Filters to find books by geographical area, subject, and time period. The filters you choose form a hierarchy, so they will work together.
*Tip: If you use the New Search button, it will take you to the full list of our books. To stay with the eBooks, use the back arrow in your browser or just start over.

Yes, you can work remotely on a computer, laptop, tablet, Kindle or phone– any device on which the Bookshelf app can be loaded. CLICK HERE to see what the developer says.

For Librarians:

There are two types of books in My GPC Library:

  • Books of records focusing on Colonial America to about the Civil War
  • The undisputed best and most comprehensive collection of How-To and Guide Books

Together, your patrons can use our titles to find their early ancestors while having the Guide Books to direct them in their work.

What we can put together for you really depends on how you want to use the books.

Consider what best serves your patrons:

  • Will you and your staff use the platform to assist patrons?
  • Will some of your patrons come to the library to do their research?
  • Will in-library patrons want to borrow eBooks to work from home?
  • Will most of your patrons only want to use remote connections?

The options are not mutually exclusive. They can work well together. At the library, you could have both versions active. In addition, you can have the remote version available with 24/7 internet access through the library’s IP connection(s). (Remote Access for your patrons will be authenticated using a library IP address.)

Pricing is based on your estimated number of patrons who are doing genealogical research along with how you choose to make the platform available.

Are you ready to schedule a video demonstration?

Email website@genealogical.com. Include a few dates that work for you. On the call I can show you how the platform works and answer your questions. Please allow an hour since there will likely be a lot to cover.

I look forward to working with you to see if our offerings will fit your needs.

  1. Interested in more information concerning subscription capabilities

  2. Dear Mr. Noles,

Thanks for your interest in MY GPC LIBRARY. Probably your best bet is to write to bchodak@genealogical.com, who spearheads our subscription product, with some specific questions, or ask for a time to have a chat with him.

  3. I am interested in this offer, but I would like to know if the format of available ebooks is available in a format usable on my Kindle Fire from Amazon as well as on my desktop running Windows 11? Or am I limited to usage in the Windows format?

    Thanks for any available information!

  4. Response from the Publisher
Marilyn: Thanks for asking the question. My GPC Library is accessible from any internet connection. When you purchase a subscription, we create a single sign-on button in your account on this site. If you want to work with any titles when you are not connected to the internet, you can download the free Bookshelf App. The App is available for your laptop, your iPad, your phone, or your Kindle. Select titles when connected and work with them anywhere. When you reconnect through the internet, all your notes will sync.

If you’re like me and can’t read very long in a car, use the Read Aloud feature. There are lots of features available with our subscription package. Give it a try.

  5. I have subscribed to the platform at the yearly price, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to initiate a search for a specific person in my tree.

  6. I have subscribed and I am excited to explore the ebooks
