The Royal Descents of 900 Immigrants to the American Colonies
Royal Descents of 900 Immigrants

The Royal Descents of 900 Immigrants to the American Colonies, Quebec or the United States. Second Edition, by Gary Boyd Roberts is remarkable in a number of ways.  Obviously, it documents nearly 1,000 lines of North Americans who can claim royal ancestors—more than any other publication. The Introduction to this new three-volume edition is nearly 200 pages long, which, for all we know, may be a record-setter in its own right. Among other things, the Introduction contains an annotated bibliographic essay describing the history of royal genealogy scholarship, and another naming all major historical figures who possess royal lines.

As all genealogists know, the pursuit of a flawless lineage is unending. Mr. Roberts acknowledges as much in Appendix IX to the Introduction, which covers 23 Immigrants for Whom a Line from Kings is either unproved or seems problematical. We’ve reprinted the first two pages of that Appendix below. Read on . . . this may be your opportunity to add your name to the historical scholarship of royal genealogy.
