If you were looking for a royal (or noble) ancestor in the First Edition of Gary Boyd Roberts’ signature work, the two-volume Royal Descents of 900 Immigrants to the American Colonies, Quebec, or the United States, but came up empty, don’t despair. In compiling the new Second Edition of RD 900, Mr. Roberts has identified an additional 159 immigrant ancestors who arrived in the 19th or 20th century. For example, you could trace your royal roots through the poet, W. H. Auden. Albert Gallatin, America’s first Secretary of the Treasury, has also been added to the list of royally-connected immigrants. So too have Bernardo Frederico Guillermo of New York; Alan Payan Pryce-Jones of Newport, RI; Vladamir, Prince Troubetskoy, of Wisconsin; and members of the legendary von Trapp family that fled to Vermont. In fact, you should study Mr. Roberts’ list of all 159 new immigrant entries. You may just find the connection you’ve been hoping for.
