Anyone familiar with Irish genealogy knows that John Grenham’ textbook, Tracing Your Irish Ancestors, available exclusively from Genealogical.com in a hardcover Fifth Edition, is the last word on its subject. One outstanding feature of the book is its 250-page chapter on Irish county sources. Mr. Grenham divides each counties coverage, from County Antrim through County Wicklow, into the following six sections: census returns and substitutes, Internet sources, local histories, local journals, gravestone inscriptions, and estate records. The sources for any one county are vast, so if you’ve hit a brick wall in your Irish research, chances are good that this chapter contains some leads you need to follow up on. To illustrate, here is the list of census returns and key online sources for County Kerry, one of the shorter such lists in this enormous chapter. View Book Details
