Genealogical.com Wins NGS Competition for Second Year in a Row

We are all smiles at Genealogical.com. Why? At its recently concluded annual conference held in Sacramento, California, the National Genealogical Society announced that the book, How To Find Your Family History in U.S. Church Records by Sunny Jane Morton and Harold A. Henderson, had won the 2022 Award for Excellence: Methods & Sources Book Competition.

As we have written previously, How To Find Your Family History in U.S. Church Records is a unique, peer-reviewed publication that takes researchers step-by-step through the process of identifying, locating, and gaining access to these genealogical gems. Included in this book are hundreds of links to church research resources, as well as chapters devoted to specific resources for the major Christian denominations before 1900. More than 30 archivists, historians, and genealogical experts in specific faith traditions have contributed their knowledge to these denominational chapters.

2022 marks the second year in a row that Genealogical.com has won the prestigious Award for Excellence in Methods & Sources Book Competition. In 2021, the winning entry was Professional Genealogy: Preparation, Practice, and Standards, edited by Elizabeth Shown Mills.

In twenty-six chapters, written by twenty-two experts, Professional Genealogy: Preparation, Practice & Standards is an invaluable resource for professional genealogists and students, as well as all family history researchers. “From genetic and forensic genealogy to ethics and contracts, business structures, marketing, writing, editing, and preparing books for press, ProGen PPS promises to inspire thought processes and ignite new discussions” (Billie Stone Fogarty, M. Ed. President, Association of Professional Genealogists).

Genealogical.com wishes to take this opportunity to thank the National Genealogical Society for their recognition of our publications and for honoring our authors and editor with this distinguished award.
