“Tree Talks” is the celebrated quarterly of the Central New York Genealogical Society. In a review for the August 2024 issue, Joyce Cook, a former editor of the magazine, refers to Generation by Generation: A Modern Approach to the Basics of Genealogy, by Drew Smith, as “a road map for basic genealogy research, a clearly written book that shows us step-by-step, how to look for our ancestors, starting with the most important person of all: oneself.” Ms. Cook concludes her review by noting that Mr. Smith’s attention to the current opportunities for genealogical research afforded by the internet means that, “. . .beginner or long-time researcher, there’s something for everyone in this easy-to-read concise book. Enjoy!”
