Although similar to Crozier’s General Armory in plan, this work focuses exclusively on Virginia. It contains full descriptions of the coats of arms of about 275 early Virginia families, including descriptions of crests and mottoes. Each family entry contains extensive genealogical notes; names of the first of the family in Virginia; and, wherever ascertained, his date and place of birth, occupation, marriage, heirs, and date and place of death.
