Harry Wright Newman’s last book, To Maryland From Overseas, was published just before his death in 1983, but the edition was so small that few people know of it. This work has documentation on the British and Continental origins of 1,400 people who settled in Maryland between 1634 and the beginning of the Federal Period. Each colonist is dealt with in a separate paragraph, the contents of which range from abstracts of wills, deeds, patents, judgment records, pension records, and naturalizations to abstracts of private papers, visitations, and parish registers.
