Description
This invaluable compilation includes early genealogical records from more than a dozen Kentucky counties. An extensive surname index contains about 3,750 entries, the majority with multiple references. Perhaps no better estimation of the book’s value can be found than in the following review, which appeared in a prestigious Kentucky periodical when the work was first reprinted:
“Genealogical Publishing Company . . . Has done a real service to genealogists, historians, and the public in reprinting Mrs. McAdams’ valuable book. It contains abstracts of early wills, deeds and marriages from court houses, and records of old Bibles, churches, grave yards, and cemeteries, compiled by American War Mothers. The genealogical material was collected from authentic sources in Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Nicholas, and Woodford counties.”–The Filson Club History Quarterly (July 1968).
