Description
This marriage record book is arranged in alphabetical order by both the bride’s and groom’s names and gives the date of the marriage or marriage bond, the source of the marriage record, and, in a number of cases, the age of the parties to the marriage. Mrs. Horton compiled Hampshire County Marriages of the 1800s from the few official Hampshire County marriage bonds that survived the Civil War, a number of area newspapers, church records, and the official county marriage records for the period 1866-1900. The largest collection of Hampshire County marriages we are every likely to have, it contains nearly 4,000 marriages with references to 8,000 persons.
