Description
George Selden Wallace’s annals of Cabell County, West Virginia, trace the county’s history from county formation and early settlement through the pivotal Civil War era to World War I and the Great Depression. Special chapters are devoted to the county’s institutional life, including churches, railroads, schools, manufacturers, theaters, public utilities, and so on. Preceding the every-name index at the back of the volume are various lists of county, state, and federal officials from Cabell County, as well as muster rolls from the War of 1812 through World War I. The genealogical plum of the volume, however, is the detailed sketches of 100 Cabell County families, which constitute fully one-third of the entire volume.
