Burke County Folks is a compilation of newspaper articles that tell the story of the people of Burke and surrounding counties in Georgia during the period of 1851 through 1900. Over one third of the book is devoted to the Civil War era in Burke County. Many of these newspaper articles contain information about individuals and families that is not recorded elsewhere. There are more than 900 surnames recorded in this book, plus a separate Slave Index.
